Baltic Ground Services to provide aircraft ground services for the Russian aviation giant Transaero

Starting from the first of December ground handler - Baltic Ground Services will provide one of the largest Russian carriers Transaero with passenger and aircraft handling services, ticketing and fuelling services in the International Vilnius Airport. According to the newly signed agreement Baltic Ground Services will serve the company’s Boeing 737-500 (101-114 seats) aircraft which is operated on the route between Moscow and Vilnius four times per week.

The fact that we were chosen for cooperation by one of the largest Russian carriers once again goes to show that our integrated ground services package is highly attractive to sizeable global airlines. We truly hope that this latest partnership will only develop further and we can extend it towards other territories that we serve.”,- commented the CEO of Baltic Ground Services Saulius Batavicius.
According to the Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe) in August 2011 the International Vilnius Airport came fifth in terms of the passenger growth rate among all European airports. In the list of the airports serving up to 5 million passengers per calendar year it is firmly positioned in the fourth place. In October 2011 the airport saw a 53.7% increase in travellers compared to the numbers recorded in the same month of the previous year. This year the aviation experts expect a record number (over 55 thousand) of passengers travelling between Vilnius and Moscow.
Transaero was established in 1990 and is currently the owner of a fleet consisting of 71 aircraft. The company operates from its largest base in the Moscow Domodedevo International and a smaller one in the St. Petersburgh Pulkovo airports and carries passengers to over 100 destinations worldwide. Recently the airline introduced new routes to New York, Miami, Beijing and Honk Kong.
