Obama and Hollywood hypocrites should get out of the political marriage game and into saving lives
Saving Lives More Sincere Than Playing the Wedding Planner
By Judi McLeod Friday, May 11, 2012Not all Gays, Lesbians, Transgendered and BiSexuals are happy that President Barack Obama jumped (at least figuratively speaking) out of the wedding cake at George Clooney’s $15 million-Hollywood fundraiser last night.
Not all LGBTs are licking the icing off the wedding cake, and not all LGBTs would willingly identify Barack Hussein Obama as their self-proclaimed ‘Patron Saint’.
There must be some, if not many LGBTs, who know at heart that Obama did not “evolve” to a same-sex marriage embrace on his own, or because that’s what his wife and daughters wanted. They must know that filthy lucre played a big part in his public adoption of the issue that “includes everybody and gives everybody a shot and treats everybody fairly”.
Some people not only do not treat everybody “fairly”, they refuse to treat them even humanely.
Some LGBT issues are far more pressing than matrimony. Some LGBT share living together without the piece of paper that makes it legal with legions of common law heterosexuals.
Politics notwithstanding, not every LGBT wants to walk down the aisle.
But there can be no doubt that every LGBT wants to and deserves to live.
While Hollywood and hangers on celebrate Obama’s stand on same-sex marriage today, homosexuality laws in major Muslim countries are terrifying.
“According to the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) seven countries still retain capital punishment for homosexual behavior: Afghanistan, Iran, Mauritania, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Yemen. The situation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is unclear.
“In Egypt, openly gay men have been prosecuted under general public morality laws.” (Wikipedia)
Obama, who invited them to the White House only last month, has huge influence with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
The highly political Obama should not be throwing a party and raising money for his never-ending re-election campaign from Hollywood LGBTs, but throwing a fit that in today’s 21st century, seven (count ‘em!) countries still retain capital punishment for homosexual behavior.
Given that homosexuals are still under threat of their very lives in major Muslim countries, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand and all party goers at the $15 million Obama fundraiser last night should hang their heads in collective shame.
Ditto for day after gushers like Ellen DeGeneres and Obama campaign team members like Rufus Gifford (See below).
Claiming to be on the same side of activists for same-sex marriage from the safety of Hollywood parties is taking the cowardly way out of more pressing LGBT issues.
Obama and Hollywood hypocrites should get out of the political marriage game and into saving lives.
