Peru’s Sol Gains on Higher Inflow Bets; Chilean Peso Declines
By Admin Friday, January 22, 2010Peru’s sol rose the most in almost two weeks as bets the economy will post higher growth this year compared to other Latin American countries boosted appetite for the nation’s financial assets.
The sol gained the most since Jan. 8, climbing 0.2 percent to 2.8495 per dollar, from 2.8545 yesterday.
Moody’s Investors Service said in a report yesterday Peru and Brazil “appear poised to grow the most and maybe surprise on the upside.” Moody’s forecasts Peru will grow 4.8 percent this year, the highest for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, which the rating agency expects to grow a median of 2.5 percent… more
