Doctors Trained in Cuba Vaccinate Haitians
By Admin Thursday, February 18, 2010A group of physician graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba (ELAM) joined the vaccination campaign developed by the island’s collaborators in devastated Haiti.
The young doctors from many countries in Latin America began their work here in one of the largest improvised camps for the victims of the quake assisted by Cuban physicians.
The settlement located in the secondary school of Saint Louis Gonzaga had not received any aid in vaccination until now despite requests of non governmental organizations and several institutions according to the coordinator of the refuge, Elvire Constant.
Latin American and Cuban doctors, assisted by nurses from the Island immunized the population with vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough giving priority to children and women… more
