What You Should Know About Alternate Therapies
By Dr. Gifford Jones
I’ve often asked myself this question, “How much better could I treat patients if I had also studied forms of “alternate therapy”? After all those of us with traditional medical degrees haven’t learned everything. This week, an interesting story of a Harvard physician who had a first hand experience with one form of alternate medicine.

“Eat three pineapples a day, take hot baths with Epsom salts, followed by cold showers, and call me in a week!” This was the advice given by a Chinese naturopath to a Harvard doctor whose backache could not be cured by conventional medicine.
Are Herbal Remedies Harmless?By Dr. Gifford Jones
“What happened to the patient?” I asked the doctor at the huge Baragwanath hospital in Soweto, South Africa. “It was necessary to remove her entire large bowel” he replied. “She used a herbal medicine that caused irreparable injury to the colon. This happens several times a year in Soweto. The people in Soweto love herbal medicines”.

Americans spend $33.9 billion a year on alternative medicineBy Admin
In a time of trillion-dollar stimulus packages and billion-dollar bailouts, what once seemed like staggering amounts of money now sound almost ordinary. Even so, it got my attention when I read that Americans spend $33.9 billion a year on complementary and alternative medicine. That’s $33.9 billion out of people’s own pockets, not counting anything paid for by insurance companies, and not counting money spent on vitamin or mineral supplements.
How to use Coca LeavesBy Admin
Regardless of popular belief, coca leaves are actually good for you. Yes, I said coca leaves – responsible for the additive drug we know as cocaine. Sadly, due to the ignorance towards South American cultures, stigmatization of the coca plant, and straight-up propaganda against this amazing plant, people are left scared and unable to experience the benefits that the coca leaf has to offer. Furthermore, it’s illegal to consume coca leaves in the United States. Thank god I’m currently visiting Argentina for the next few months — lucky me!

According to the March 2003 issue of the AARP Bulletin, the American healthcare system is in a state of collapse. In a comparison of quality healthcare by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States ranked 37th, coming in behind such nations as Andorra, Malta, Oman and Singapore.
University of Illinois at Chicago’s healing gardenBy Admin
Although a weeping willow might appear humble, the common tree is actually quite remarkable: A natural pain reliever found in its bark taught scientists how to make aspirin, the household defense against headaches and heart attacks.
Six Reasons You Are FatBy William McCreary, PhD.
Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in North America. Diet programs, books, programs and media machines that promote Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, the Zone and the like, as well as the too numerous to mention fad diets have led to both bulges around our waist and bulges in the collective wallets of the heads of the diet industry. Sadly, in spite of decades of diets, hours of Tae Bo, aerobics, and Arnold pumping us up, we, collectively and individually are fatter than ever. Despite annually spending hundreds of millions of dollars on weight loss supplements and drugs, the rate of obesity increase ‘weighs in’ at a 25% increase over the past decade. Not surprisingly, parallel increases are seen in rates of chronic low back pain, heart attacks, diabetes, stroke, bowel disorders and cancer. The combined rate of incidence for developing these diseases indicate that 3 out of 4 people will get at least one of these conditions.

US HIV/AIDS Rates indicate a Government/Media created epidemicBy William McCreary, PhD.
Hold on, don’t kill me yet. In this age of political correctness, there are some issues that raise the ire of many people. You can talk bad about many things and people, you can talk conspiracy theories and you can complain about taxes. You can wave your flag of ‘it is my right’ and say just about anything under that false banner. You can mock God, religion and the government. But when you speak out against HIV/ AIDS, you often cross the line in many people’s eyes. So you may love me for taking and promoting a stand that might be unpopular, or you may curse me for the same reason. But at least I am taking a stand.
A Crapshoot at Best- America’s Health Care is a Matter of LuckBy William McCreary, PhD.
We have come to expect certain things from our hospitals…. as flawed as the system that they operate within might be. We expect safe standards of operation for routine and general procedures. But we do not always get that. In fact, we often get nothing even close to that. But whether we require hospital services for broken bones or disease treatment protocols, we expect to have such services in a clean, safe and proficient environment. After all, the US spends more than 3 times the amount per person on health care than ANY other country in the world. That money must be going to provide high quality access to standardized levels of health care for all, right??? Whether you go to your local hospital or a ‘big name’ facility, one might expect that the standard of care should be relatively even, all things considered. Health care is health care right???
By William McCreary, PhD.
As an outcome of the two recent elections on North America, one is reminded of the power that tradition and conformity have in our collective lives. Both the Canadian and American elections vividly demonstrated a media controlled and manipulated game, that was played into by the general populous. Very few people actually turned out to exercise their right to vote. Of those that did, very few were educated or more than superficially informed regarding the parties` stances, policies and implications of such upon our lives. Rather, votes were cast along lines of family tradition, religion, race or gender. Many did not vote for a person or party because of their potential worth and ability, but rather because `my family has always voted for this party so I will too`.
Toothless Enforcement by EPABy William McCreary, PhD.
Recently, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, ranked as one of the ‘best of the best hospitals’ according to public opinion and a recent study by US News, was fined nearly a quarter of a million dollars for improperly disposing of chemotherapy waste and other hazardous materials. Chemicals used for chemotherapy, along with mercury poisoned waste, were improperly stored and labelled as regulations require. Christine Hickey, a hospital spokeswoman, said the chemotherapy chemicals were originally handled and labelled as regular medical waste and not as hazardous chemical waste, as regulations require.
