Colombia: too hot for comfort?
 By Admin

by Pan Kwan Yuk
The country’s central bank seems to think so. Not content with having made a surprise interest rate hike last month (even as the rest of LatAm held or cut rates) and then launching a dollar buying programme this week to curb the rise in the peso, Colombian policy makers are now studying measures to slow consumer credit growth.

Colombia, a state of flux
 By Admin

Adam Isacson
A decade of violence and insecurity has deeply marked Colombia’s society, politics and institutions. For Colombia to move on, its beleaguered yet independent justice system will have a vital role to play, says Adam Isacson.
The approaching date of 20 February 2012 will be a frustrating anniversary in Colombia. On that day in 2002, following guerrillas’ kidnapping of a senator, the country’s then president Andrés Pastrana abruptly ended more than three years of stumbling peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) guerrillas.

MRO solutions: A prerequisite for successful growth of aviation industry in the Asian Pacific region
 By Ernesta Raulonytė

In the next two decades the global MRO profits should increase from USD 40 to 100 billion. Although today the Asian Pacific region accounts for a fifth of the entire market, the MRO industry in China and India grows by on average 8% per year. Passenger flows have already reached 700 million annually. Therefore, with the expected 11 thousand new aircraft within the next 20 years, the number of air passengers should grow to 2 billion. The number of low cost airlines is expected to increase accordingly (by 50%).

Coming out of the shadows: Four more years of Obama
 By Judi McLeod

Sticking to the Saul Alinsky “demoralize the masses” strategy, Barack Hussein Obama seems to like the use of scare mongering tactics.  During the long three and a half years of his administration, it seems that every Friday evening is Fright Night, the worst of them occurring on Christmas and Easter.

Will the U.S.-Colombia FTA benefit Colombia? No
 By Admin

by Kevin P. Gallagher
The now-official U.S.–Colombia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will dampen growth and make it harder for Colombia to put in place policies for innovation and industrialization. Colombia will also have fewer tools to confront financial instability, thus forcing it to work twice as hard to maximize the benefits of the agreement.

 By Ernesta Raulonytė

New generation aircraft, such as Boeing 787, 737 NG, Airbus A320neo, A380, Bombardier Global or Embraer Phenomen can run considerably longer without the need of any servicing making them increasingly attractive to airlines renewing their existing fleets. In the meantime, MROs having to deal with the increase in the use of field-loadable software (FLS) respond by expanding the list of requirements for aircraft technical maintenance specialists.

Marco Rubio replacing Obama as ‘Ineligibility Guy’?
By Judi McLeod & Douglas Hagmann

Sean Hannity should be feeling mighty miffed today for being Joseph Farah punked.
Republican Senator Marco Rubio was just dumped as the fresh red meat in the ineligibility ring, and the Hannity Show was used for the dumping.

LA CURIA ROMANA Y LA MAFIA CUBANA
 By Alfredo M. Cepero
