Golfer Camilo Villegas, who will play at Doral this weekend, has spurred pride and patriotism among his fans who appreciate not only his game but his character.
You can’t miss it at this weekend’s big golf tournament at Doral, the human mass of yellow, blue, red and noise undulating around the Blue Monster course like a giant Colombian flag.
But what makes the gallery following Camilo Villegas isn’t size, noise or color.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Anyone that says golfers aren’t athletes should simply look at Camilo Villegas.
Not his bulging biceps or his Spiderman impersonation of stretching his body inches off the ground as he lines up a putt, but his schedule the last two weeks.
Villegas, who is tied for The Honda Classic lead with Anthony Kim after shooting another 4-under 66 in Friday’s second round, has been busier than a tax man the second week in April.

Juventus were reportedly on the trail of Banfield teenager James Rodriguez, but the player’s agent, Bruno Carpeggiani, has denied the winger is definitely on his way to Turin.
“He is one of the best players in Argentina at the moment,” he admitted to tuttomercatoweb.
“However, for now we haven’t spoken to anyone, so there is no deal. I leave for South America on Friday, so then we’ll see. Obviously I can say there is interest from important teams, but there have been no negotiations.”
The Colombian player gained international recognition by becoming a star member of the Banfield team that clinched the 2009 Apertura in Argentina.
Fight Preview: Devon Alexander-Juan UrangoBy Admin Friday, March 5, 2010
HBO had one fight card in January, and then the boxing department went dark for the entire month of February. Saving up for the big fights can be deadly dull for the fans, who sit and twiddle their thumbs in anticipation of what’s coming, especially if the empty month is February, which is an awful sports month to begin with.
Now they return with a Boxing After Dark on Saturday, a card that has been gutted and left standing with just one fight worth being televised, a 140-pound unification bout between titlists Devon Alexander and Juan Urango. Odds are pretty heavily in favor of Alexander, a flashy, exceptionally quick fighter who goes in against a lumbering bulldozer who has only one speed.
Montoya, McMurray make for an odd couple at EGRBy Admin Friday, February 26, 2010
The oddest thing about Jamie McMurray’s return to Chip Ganassi’s race team wasn’t his reunion with a car owner he had split with five years earlier. They had parted on good terms, with Ganassi telling the driver that he couldn’t match what Roush Fenway was offering him, and to take advantage of the opportunity. McMurray would send his old boss occasional text messages, congratulating him on a victory in an IndyCar event or the 24-hour Daytona sports-car race.
“I kept that friendship,” McMurray said. “You just never know.”
